Bukit Jelutong lies halfway between Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur city and is a low-density residential township with a few small commercial centres and an industrial section. Its properties are built mainly on freehold land while its population is roughly 44,000 and has an area land size of 2,200 acres (8.9 sq km). Developed by Guthrie Property Holding Berhad (a subsidiary of Sime Darby), starting in 1996, its residents are a mix of Chinese (16%), Malay (70%), Indian (6%), and others (8%) of middleclass to upper middleclass backgrounds. Bukit Jelutong is well known as a lush green recreational and leisure development with plenty of parks, playgrounds, and green open fields as well as buffer zones. The homes here are mainly bungalows, duplex houses and 2 storey linked houses while in certain areas there are apartments like Suria Jelutong Serviced Apartments and Elaeis 1 Condominium.
Mostly gated and guarded, Bukit Jelutong’s inhabitants enjoy being a close-knit community with membership in Bukit Jelutong Residents Association open to all residents interested. There are regular community events organized each year such as the Bukit Jelutong Carnival and other activities, some of which are held at the local Town Hall. The roads here are wide, winding, and well maintained with trees lining spacious green buffer zones, and nature strips. There are also neat and tidy pavements with kerbs bordering the roads and plenty of well trimmed grassy green pastures, undulating hillocks, and meadows. The air is fresh and the views here are serene especially at the lake sides. The huge natural forests adjacent to the West, the commercial centres designed to be small and unobtrusive to the environment, with homes here being attractive with practical layouts, make this township very livable.
Amenities & Facilities
Its commercial centres have plenty of cafes such as Geniuz, Maze, Sky Café, Petals & Co Café, Zawara Coffee, IDEAA Station, One Serambi Café, Big Mouth Café, and others, besides restaurants like Restoran Assam Pedas Serambi, Domino’s Pizza, Restoran Jasmine, Warung Moknik, Nasi Kandar Subair Bistro, and Restoran Beriani Madu. There are also bakeries, a 99-Speedmarts, a 7-Eleven, pharmacists, and banks, a Kedai Ayamas, Jaya Grocer, hair studio, pet shops, and a hotel, etc. There are Tesco and Giant Hypermarkets nearby while there are two Petronas petrol stations within this township.
There are also two schools here, SK Bukit Jelutong and SMK Bukit Jelutong, a mosque and surau, and a few clinics. Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti of Science & Management are some of the institutions of higher learning with 10 to 20 minutes’ driving distance of this residential area. Dahrul Ehsan Medical Centre is also close-by while Sultan Abdul Aziz Airport is not too far away. Shah Alam Stadium, Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Golf Club, Glenmarie, Monterez, and Saujana Golf & Country Clubs are within short driving distance from Bukit Jelutong.
Accessibily & Transportation
Bukit Jelutong is easily accessible from Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE), the NKVE Highway, and Jalan Sungai Buloh via PersiaranGerbang Utama and Persiaran Tebar Layar. This excellent network of roads and highways link Bukit Jelutong efficiently, to Shah Alam, Klang, PJ, KL, and other parts of Klang Valley, while also providing scenic drives. There is however no bus service within Bukit Jelutong except for the ones serving Jalan sungai buloh and Shah Alam nearby.
Radia Residence, a freehold high-rise serviced apartment complex with retail and office properties also, is currently being developed by Sime Darby Berhad and UEM Sunrise Berhad on a joint venture basis to be completed in 2018. When ready it will make Bukit Jelutong even more exclusive and upmarket than it is already.
