Overview

Cheras is an established suburb in Kuala Lumpur, which stretches from Kuala Lumpur to Kajang thus sharing same state lines. Cheras 9th Mile marks the Selangor side of Cheras. This region has several townships such as Taman Connaught, Taman Cheras, Bandar Sri Permaisuri and Maluri and is extremely well connected. Given its proximity to the city centre, the area boasts good infrastructure developments and facilities thus fulfilling the residents’ needs for city living in a suburban setting.

Amenities and Facilities

A famous evening activity here is the Taman Connaught Night Market ‘Pasar Malam’ on Wednesdays that stretches across a few shop lots, with a wide variety of local and foreign fare including the ‘stinky tofu’ famous in Hong Kong and causing a major traffic jam.

There are countless modern facilities for the young families who are purchasing properties in this area, still relatively affordable whilst being nearby to the city centre. The modern facilities range from hypermarkets (Tesco, AEON Big, Giant, Econsave), medical centres (Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM), Pantai Medical Centre, Columbia Asia Hospital Cheras), private and public learning centres (UCSI University, Royal Msia Police College, Cempaka International School, Seri Suria private school, Seri Cempaka International School, Yu Hua Chinese School, to name a few.

Accessibility and Transportation

The upcoming MRT Line connecting Sungai Buloh-Kajang and passing this area has a few stops namely Cochrane, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Balakong, Suntex and Connaught, is bound to create a surge of newer residents, properties, amenities and capital appreciation. Existing highways such as Kuala Lumpur Outer Ring Road, SILK, Cheras-Kajang Expressway and Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang Expressway (SUKE) will help to ease the current congested traffic conditions in the area.

Some of the notable upcoming developments are You City by PJ Developments (20.6 acres of residential and retail units), Suria Residence (landed 3-storey houses), 9ine (low density apartments surrounded by the lush Bukit Sungai Putih Forest Reserve), Saville @ Cheras (integrated development with 352 units of serviced apartments due in 2019 with a covered link bridge to nearest MRT station - Sri Raya) and Green Residence (high rise condominium in Taman Rasa Sayang). Not forgetting the Sunway Velocity development - the last piece of freehold land in Cheras to be developed as a city within itself complete with a theme park, retail mall, hotel, medical centre and pedestrian-vehicles space separation.
