Overview

Pudu is situated right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. Located along Pudu Road, Pudu is adjacent to Pasar Road (or Jalan Pasar) which is well-known for shops selling electronic components and devices. Pudu also has one of the largest wet markets, the Pudu Market, in Kuala Lumpur.  Malaysia’s oldest bus station which was built in 1976, Pudu Sentral which was previously known as Puduraya Bus Station, can also be found in Pudu along Pudu Road.

Pudu also used to house the infamous Pudu Jail. Built on the site of a former Chinese burial ground, the Pudu Jail which was synonymous as the landmark of Pudu. It was closed in 1996, and was then used as a museum for a short period of time. In June 2010, the prison complex’s eastern wall was demolished for a road widening project and the prison complex itself was mostly demolished in 2012.

Property Development

The former jail site has been approved for a multi-billion ringgit mixed commercial and residential development which will comprise of a retail mall, offices, hotels as well as serviced residences and apartments, which will be known as the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC). The BBCC project will be undertaken by BBCC Development Sdn Bhd, a special purpose vehicle which was jointly set up by Eco World, Uda Holdings Bhd and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) for the purpose of developing the project.

Amenities and Facilities

Pudu is indeed in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is just a stone’s throw away from some of Kuala Lumpur’s finest and iconic shopping malls such as Starhill Gallery, The Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Farenheit 88, Lot 10, Berjaya Times Square, Sungai Wang Plaza and Low Yat Plaza as well as tourist attractions within Kuala Lumpur’s commercial, shopping and entertainment hub which is also known as the Golden Triangle. Local public transportation systems such as the Light Rail Transit (LRT), taxis and buses are conveniently within close proximity, providing opportunities to explore the city and also to connect to the major business districts in or outside of Kuala Lumpur with ease.
